Varicella-zoster virus infection

Abstract: The highly prevalent and contagious varicella-zoster virus is usually benign in healthy persons but may cause substantial morbidity in immunocompromised patients and some adults. New developments in prevention and treatment, as discussed in this article, offer attractive options but also present difficult management decisions for primary care physicians.
