Variability, Heritability and Genetic Advance in Toria

Abstract: Variability, heritability and genetic advance were studied in eight varieties of toria (Brassica compestris var. toria). The genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) was highest for 1000 seed weight and high for number of primary and secondary branches per plant. The highest phenotypic coefficient of Variation (PCV) was observed for number of secondary branches followed by number of capsules per plant, number of primary branches per plant, 1000 seed weight and number of seeds per capsule.
