Variabel Penentu Dan Efisiensi Teknis Produksi Jagung Lokal Di Madura

Abstract

Corn is one of the most consumed food commodities besides rice and wheat. One of the corn producer regions in East of Java Province is Madura Island. The variety that mostly cultivated is local corn. The main problem faced is the low of corn's productivity. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence local corn production in Madura and it's level of technical efficiency. The analytical method uses the Cobb Douglas Stochastic Frontier production function, which estimated using the Maximum Likehood Estimation (MLE). The number of samples used was 60 respondents spread over in four districts on Madura Island. Based on the results of the study, the factors that influence the corn's production are seeds, manure, NPK fertilizer, labor and land area with an average technical efficiency is 0.772.
