VANSec: Attack-Resistant VANET Security Algorithm in Terms of Trust Computation Error and Normalized Routing Overhead

Abstract: VANET is an application and subclass of MANETs, a quickly maturing, promising, and emerging technology these days. VANETs establish communication among vehicles (V2V) and roadside infrastructure (V2I). As vehicles move with high speed, hence environment and topology change with time. There is no optimum routing protocol which ensures full-pledge on-time delivery of data to destination nodes, and an absolutely optimum scheme design for flawless packet exchange is still a challenging task. In VANETs, accurate an… Show more

“…Due to the sensitivity of the information involved in VANET, a safe and reliable environment is essential [12]. However, because of its poor defense capabilities against various attacks (such as man-in-the-middle attacks, Sybil attacks, black hole attacks, or denial of service attacks), ensuring the security of VANET is very challenging [13,14]. In recent years, the trust model has been introduced as an effective security technology into the trusted environment for message propagation between vehicles.…”

“…But in the literature, in the existing systems [16,19,22] intrusion and malicious attacks were found using the trust model. In some techniques [17,21] the natural inspired soft computing techniques are adopted to achieve the trust ability in the VANET routing.…”

“…Trust-based approach towards three distinct layers (physical, network, and MAC) has been carried out by Ghugar et al [16] focusing on resisting jamming / cross-layer attack in adhoc network. Ahmed et al [17] have also used trust-based scheme considering vehicular network.…”
