Validity and Reliability of the Hungarian Version of Aberdeen Varicose Vein Questionnaire

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of our study was to translate the Aberdeen Varicose Vein Questionnaire (AVVQ) into Hungarian, and to investigate the validity and reliability of the Hungarian AVVQ, as well as to assess the health-related quality of life in patients with varicose veins of the leg. Methods: 374 adults participated in this study who were divided into two groups (varicose vein, healthy). We analyzed internal consistency, convergent validity (using the 36-Item Short Form Survey, SF-36), repeatability, and intra-cl… Show more

“…The goal of the study is to determine the feasibility and reliability of the Spanish-translated AVVQ in the population. The features of the AVVQ were similar to other samples, 83% of patients were women, 76% on the sample described by Garrat, 5 69% on the Dutch sample, 8 84% on the varicose group of the Hungarian sample, and 9 87.9% on the Brazilian sample. 10 Mean age was also similar, about 45–55 years in all samples.…”

“…The internal consistency with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.71 is comparable to the one obtained by Garrat on the UK sample and Klem on the Dutch sample and the Persian sample recorded by Neamatshahi (0.72, 0.76, and 0.71, respectively), and the Hungarian sample showed a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.890. 5,8,9,11 Cronbach’s alpha value on the Brazilian sample was lower than reported before (0.54), although the internal consistency for the domains recorded was acceptable. 10…”
