Success in a career is certainly the dream of every student and parent. However, behind career success, career maturity is needed so that students have career awareness within themselves. This article aims to describe the level of career awareness of students in class VIII junior high school. Career awareness is one part of the career maturity that students should have in their first year of entering school, starting from jobs, paths as well as career considerations and stereotypes that can hinder future careers. This article applies a quantitative survey method by collecting data from 128 junior high school (SMP) students. This data was collected by distributing a career awareness scale to students. The results show that as many as 79% of students have a low level of career awareness. The reasons why students have career awareness include being unrealistic in choosing a career, the influence of friends their age, and economic factors. Of course, counseling guidance services are needed to help alleviate career awareness problems, apart from that, interesting and joyful learning methods are also needed in the hope that students can develop career awareness. These methods include experiential learning, problem based learning, and training, the application of which is adapted to needs and Permendikbud No 111 Tahun 2014 tentang Bimbingan dan Konseling pada Pendidikan Dasar dan Pendidikan Menengah.___________________________________________________________Kesuksesan dalam karier tentunya menjadi dambaan setiap peserta didik dan orang tua. Akan tetapi dibalik kesuksesan karier tersebut diperlukan kematangan karier agar peserta didik memiliki kesadaran karier dalam dirinya. Artikel ini bertujuan mendiskripsikan tingkat kesadaran karier peserta didik di Sekolah Menengah Pertama kelas VIII. Kesadaran karier menjadi salah satu bagian kematangan karier yang hendaknya dimiliki peserta didik di tahun awal mereka masuk sekolah mulai dari pekerjaan, jalur serta pertimbangan karier dan stereotip yang dapat menghambat karier kedepannya. Artikel ini menerapkan metode pendekatan kuantitatif metode survey dengan mengumpulkan data dari 128 peserta ddik Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Pengumpulan data tersebut dilakukan dengan menyebarkan skala kesadaran karier kepada peserta didik. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 79% peserta didik mempunyai tingkat kesadaran karier yang rendah. Penyebab peserta didik memiliki kesadaran karier diantaranya tidak realistis dalam memilih karier, pengaruh teman seusianya, dan faktor ekonomi. Tentunya layanan bimbingan konseling diperlukan untuk membantu mengentaskan masalah kesadaran karier, selain itu juga diperlukan metode yang menarik serta joyful learning dengan harapan peserta didik dapat mengembangkan kesadaran kariernya. Metode tersebut diantaranya experiential learning, problem based learning, dan pelatihan yang dalam penerapannya disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dan Permendikbud No 111 Tahun 2014 tentang Bimbingan dan Konseling pada Pendidikan Dasar dan Pendidikan Menengah.

This study aims to develop an instrument that has not been developed before: a career awareness instrument aimed at students, especially students at the junior high school level. The development of this instrument is to obtain data on the condition of student career awareness during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research uses a type of design and development research. The selection of respondents in this study used a simple random sampling method involving 745 respondents. The developed instrument emphasizes six aspects to determine student career awareness. The data collection technique was applied in the form of a questionnaire. Later, the data was analyzed using the Winstep version of the Rasch Model application, which presents several elements. The results of the Rasch model analysis show that the Chronbach Alpha value is 0.78 with item quality as indicated by the item reliability value of 1.00 (particular category), and the level of consistency of respondents' answers is 0.81 (good category). Furthermore, 30 items are suitable for developing this instrument, as seen from the results of the Outfit MNSQ scores that meet the requirements of the Rasch model.
