Validation of the Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation (SCORE‐15) self‐report questionnaire: index of family functioning and change in Swedish families

Abstract: Instruments for evaluating the progress and outcome of systemic therapeutic treatments in clinical practice need to be easily administered and have sound psychometric properties. The Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation, 15‐item version (SCORE‐15), is a self‐report instrument that measures aspects of family functioning. This study investigates the psychometric qualities of a Swedish version of SCORE‐15. Seventy Swedish families with healthy children and 159 families with children with psychiatric o… Show more

“…However, due to incomplete data for one caregiver, the regression analyses included 65 individuals with schizophrenia and 65 matched caregivers, excluding the pair with missing data. Missing values in the SCORE-15, HHI, and WHODAS were handled using mean imputation—the imputed value being the average of all observed responses within the same domain for that participant—as per the recommendation of the developers of the scales [ 26 , 29 , 33 ]. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression models were fitted to data to explore potential correlates of caregiver burden, including family functioning.…”

“…• SCORE-15 is a brief and effective instrument for assessing overall family functioning with specific dimensions of family strengths, communication and difficulties • The Turkish version of SCORE-15 exhibited similar factorial properties across gender and community/clinical groups • The Turkish version of SCORE-15 can be used in both clinical and community contexts for research and intervention Findings from confirmatory factor analysis studies showed that SCORE-15 with its subdimensional structure evaluates the family's strength, difficulties and communication (Carr & Stratton, 2017;Fay et al, 2013;Hamilton et al, 2015;Paolini & Schepisi, 2020;Stratton et al, 2010;Vilaça et al, 2018;Zetterqvist et al, 2020). However, further studies have been recommended to test this three-factor structure for the generalisability of previous limited results concerning confirmatory factor analysis (Carr & Stratton, 2017).…”

“…SCORE-15 has been translated into thirty-two languages, including Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, Hindi and Swedish (EFTA, 2021), and a number of studies have shown that SCORE-15 has reliability and the ability to measure change over the course of the therapeutic process (e.g. Fay et al, 2013;Hamilton et al, 2015;Limsuwan & Prachason, 2020;Paolini & Schepisi, 2020;Stratton et al, 2010;Stratton et al, 2014;O'Hanrahan et al, 2017;Vilaça et al, 2015Vilaça et al, , 2018Zetterqvist et al, 2020).…”
