Validation of potato simulation model

Abstract: Aim of the study focused on evaluation of SUBSTOR – Potato model and its utilization in potato grows management in the Czech Republic. The experimental field used for the model evaluation was located in Žabčice – South Moravia region with altitudes of 179 meters above the sea level. Tuber yield served as reference for the model evaluation. Nine years experimental data set (1994–2002) was used for the model validation. Rosara cultivar represented very early growing potato, Karin cultivar depicted early growing… Show more

“…It is basically used for various agroclimatic conditions and comprises modules that are used to input data, mathematical calculations of the process of growth and development, and, finally, interpretation of the potato simulation outputs [ 3 , 56 ]. The model considers several functions simultaneously to produce the actual structure of the soil–crop–atmospheric dynamic at different potato growth stages [ 75 , 76 , 77 ]. Potato development ( Figure 4 ) occurs in various stages: sprout elongation, emergence, tuber initiation, bulking, and maturity [ 78 ].…”

“…For climate change impact assessment using CSMs, different generators of future climate scenarios with representative concentration pathways can be considered based on availability and accessibility [68,86]. IBSNAT (International Benchmark Sites Network for Agrotechnology Transfer) developed DSSAT [25,87,148,[189][190][191][192]. It models the impacts of soil properties, weather, genotype, management practices, water, and nitrogen dynamics [87,148].…”
