Cross-cultural translation of quality instruments in the organ donation process

Objective: To carry out the cross-cultural translation of quality instruments in the organ donation process from the National Transplantation Organization of Spain. Methods: Methodological research with quantitative approach conducted in three Neurology reference hospitals in the South of the country. The instruments validation was carried out by mean of the steps of translation, backtranslation, synthesis and expert committee. The reliability was conducted by means of interobserver equivalence and test and retest stability. Results: There was a 100% match among all the judges in 89% of the items in the cross-cultural translation (11% of the items were not equivalent). In the reliability analysis, the Kappa coefficients corresponded to 0.86 and 0.95. Conclusion: The versions of the instruments were considered valid and reliable for use by institutions that carry out the organ donation process in Brazil. ResumoObjetivo: Realizar a tradução transcultural dos instrumentos de qualidade do processo de doação de órgãos da Organização Nacional de Transplantes da Espanha. Métodos: Pesquisa metodológica de abordagem quantitativa, realizada junto a três hospitais de referência em Neurocirurgia na Região Sul do país. A validade dos intrumentos foi desenvolvida por meio das etapas de tradução, backtranslation, síntese e comitê de juízes. A fidedignidade foi realizada por meio da equivalência interobservadores e da estabilidade teste e reteste. Resultados: Houve 100% de equivalência, por todos os juízes, em 89% dos itens na tradução transcultural (11% dos itens foram não equivalentes). Os valores de Kappa, na fidedignidade, foram 0,86 e 0,95. Conclusão: As versões dos instrumentos foram consideradas válidas e confiáveis para serem utilizadas pelas instituições que realizam o processo de doação de órgãos no Brasil.

ARTIGO ORIGINAL | ORIGINAL ARTICLE RESUMOO objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a associação entre comportamentos de risco para a saúde e fatores sociodemográficos de estudantes universitários de Educação Física. A amostra foi constituída por 403 estudantes do curso de Educação Física de uma universidade do norte-central do Paraná, Brasil. Como instrumentos foram utilizados um inquérito para caracterização sociodemográfica dos participantes e o National College Health Risk Behavior Survey (NCHRBS). Para análise de dados utilizou-se Qui-Quadrado 2x2 e Odds Ratio, adotando como critério de significância estatística p<0.05. Os resultados demonstraram que os principais comportamentos de risco para a saúde relacionaram-se com a insatisfação com peso corporal, segurança e violência, alimentação inadequada, consumo de álcool e comportamento sexual de risco, com prevalência superior a 80%. Os fatores relacionados a risco foram ser do gênero masculino, estudar no período noturno, ter baixa renda e ser solteiro, enquanto os fatores protetores foram estar nos primeiros anos do curso, ter religião e ter pais com boa escolaridade. Ser atleta na infância e adolescência atuou como fator de risco e de proteção para alguns comportamentos. Concluiu-se que ser do gênero masculino, solteiro, dos últimos anos do curso, do período noturno, sem religião, com menor renda econômica e pais com baixa escolaridade são fatores relacionados com a maioria dos comportamentos de risco para saúde.Palavras-chave: Comportamento de risco, Saúde, Estudantes de ciências da saúde. ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to analyze the association between risk behaviors for health and sociodemographic factors of physical education college students. The sample was 403 students of Physical Education at an university in north-central, Parana, Brazil. An inquiry for socio-demographic characterization of the participants and the National College Health Risk Behavior Survey (NCHRBS) was used as instruments. The data was analyzed using Chi-square 2x2 test and risk was evaluated using Odds Ratio using p<0.05 as statistical significance criteria. The results did show that the main risk behaviors for health were related to the dissatisfaction with weight, safety and violence, inadequate nutrition, alcohol consumption and sexual risk behavior, with prevalence exceeding 80%. The risk factors were related to being male, to study in the evening, have lower economic income and being single, whilst protective factors were to be in the start of graduate course, have a religion, and parents with higher scholar levels. Being an athlete in childhood and adolescence has served as a risk factor for some behaviors and protective for others. It was concluded that factors related to health risk behaviors are: being male, single, to be at the end of graduate course, to study in the evening, have no religion, lower economic income, and parents with lower education.

Intrinsic Religiosity and Health Risk Behaviours Among Black University Students in Limpopo, South Africa

Not much is known about religiosity's protective role against health risk behaviour in the South African context. As such, the study investigated the relationship between intrinsic religiosity and health risk behaviours in a sample of Black university students (N = 335). Two-way ANOVA showed that there were intrinsic religiosity main effects for alcohol use and sexual behaviour, gender and intrinsic religiosity main effects on tobacco and marijuana use, and gender main effects and gender and intrinsic religiosity interaction effects for engagement in physical activity. Thus, religiosity is an inner resource available to avert engagement in varied health risk behaviours.
