This article aims to present the interdisciplinary project “My Story from Silence”, conceived in 2022. The project represents a pioneering effort in assembling individuals from diverse communities, characterized by varying ethnic, national, and migratory backgrounds, along a historically dynamic border. Its primary objective was to provide a platform for these participants to articulate and share narratives previously shrouded in silence, offering insights into their historical pasts. Emphasizing reciprocal dialogue for the first time, the initiative fostered an environment where participants engaged in the dual act of narrating their own experiences and attentively listening to the narratives of others. These memories were explored in group workshops on both sides of the border. By combining elements of cultural anthropology fieldwork and analytical psychology, the workshops attempted to address hitherto unaddressed traumas and silent personal memories linked to major traumatic historical events such as fascism and Istrian exodus through the narratives of individuals. Three vignettes will illustrate the workshop dynamic and our Jungian understanding of it.

Pot zdravja in prijateljstva je zadnjih nekaj desetletij znana predvsem kot Parenzana, ki je predstavljena tudi kot pot treh dežel, Italije, Slovenije in Hrvaške (Brate 2007). Procese vzpostavitve, uveljavljanja, rahlega zatona ter ponovne oživitve predstavljamo skozi koncept življenjskega cikla tematske poti (Gornik 2015, 13−14; Koderman idr. 2021). Kljub temu da je v slovenskem geografskem prostoru ustaljenejši izraz »pokrajina«, metodološko izhajam iz »antropologije krajine« oz. iz »antropologije prostora in kraja«, kjer se izraz landscape v slovenščino prevaja kot krajina, pri čemer sledim konceptualizaciji, kot jo opisuje antropolog in geograf Matej Vranješ (2005; 2008, 16). Vranješ je pojma kulturna in naravna krajina ter različne konceptualizacije družbenega prostora analiziral v socialni in kulturni antropologiji ter humanistični geografiji in »novi kulturni geografiji«. V geografiji je v slovenskem prostoru sicer ustaljenejši izraz pokrajina. V prispevku uporabljam izraz krajina, kadar izhajam iz omenjene antropološke poddiscipline ter antropoloških avtorjev. Na nekaterih mestih sledim sugestijam recenzentov, zato v splošni rabi pišem o pokrajini in s tem upoštevam prevladujočo rabo med geografi, na katero sta opozarjala recenzenta. Prispevek izhaja iz terenskega dela z opazovanjem z udeležbo. Besedilo se delno veže na biografije sogovornikov, s katerimi sem sprva izvedla več spontanih, nestrukturiranih pogovorov, o katerih sem naredila zvočne beležke, pozneje pa sem z nekaterimi izmed sogovornikov posnela poglobljene intervjuje za namen raziskovanja Parenzane kot »sporne dediščine« na območju Istre.
