UWB Circular Fractal Antenna with High Gain for Telecommunication Applications

Abstract: The present study proposes a new, highly efficient fractal antenna with ultra-wideband (UWB) characteristics. The proposed patch offers a wide simulated operating band that reaches 8.3 GHz, a simulated gain that varies between 2.47 and 7.73 dB throughout the operating range, and a high simulated efficiency that comes to 98% due to the modifications made to the antenna geometry. The modifications carried out on the antenna are composed of several stages, a circular ring extracted from a circular antenna in whic… Show more

“…In the proposed work, an electric field is channeled into the printed monopole through the utilization of a CPW, and a lumped port is utilized to enable the transfer of electromagnetic fields between the radiator and the ground [12]. Thus, the proposed design employs FR-4 circuit board substrate as the dielectric material, which possesses distinctive characteristics, including a dielectric constant (Ɛr) of 4.4 and a loss tangent (𝛿) of 0.02 [13].…”

“…The reported peak gain is 3.6 dBi and average efficiency of the proposed antenna is about 88%. Recently, a UWB fractal monopole patch antenna has been proposed having a high measured radiation efficiency of about 92% in the operating band (Nejdi et al , 2023). By using a partial ground plane and fractal ring resonator, UWB operation is achieved in the frequency range from 2.83 to 10.16 GHz.…”
