“…Thus, the interphase thickness remained at ∼120 nm after 8 h of hydrothermal treatment and the epoxy matrix absorbed water continuously. To the contrary, due to much better hydrothermal stability of the phenyl ether and benzophenone groups , the change of the interphase dimensions of T300/PEEK under boiling water was only 13.2% upon 24 h degradation treatment. This results are consistent to the previous studies that the PEEK polymer and PEEK composites were highly resistant to environmental effects .…”

“…This can be used for a lot of further synthesis reactions, such as the grafting of different polymer chains on the surface of PEEK ( Figure 6 ). Using this method, it was possible to functionalize the PEEK surface with polystyrene (PS), vinyl phosphonic acid (VPA), butyl acrylate (BA), acrylic acid (AA), polyacrylic acid (PAA), and monomethoxy‐terminated oligo (ethylene glycol) methacrylate (MeOEGMA) …”

“…Several works in the literature have assessed the influence of “brush‐like” structure on the tribological properties. UV irradiation is conductive to generate free radicals on the surface benzophenone unit where various polymer chains can be grafted to form this structure …”
