The present study is aimed at analyzing the impact of digital sto-rytelling on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pre-service teachers’ writing skills. The participants were 101 students, who were enrolled in four distance courses of the English Major at a private university in Ecuador. Their ages ranged between 19 and 22 years old. They were divided into one control (49) and one experimental (52) group since this study used a quasi-experimental approach combined with a mixed-method design. The instruments included a pre-question-naire, a pre-test, a post-questionnaire, and a post-test. The main findings show that there was a significant improvement in students’ writing skills, particularly in aspects related to grammar and vocabulary. In addition, digital storytelling us-ing Storybird was perceived as a useful strategy to develop the participants’ EFL writing skills since they were more engaged in activities that allowed them to demonstrate their knowledge when designing narrative projects.

Heavy workloads do not always allow EFL teachers to be sole feedback providers, so there is a need to search for tools to facilitate the feedback provision process. This exploratory case study regarding students' writing in EFL classes adopted a corpus-based approach. It used #LancsBox, a corpus tool, to analyse posts written on Moodle by Lithuanian students of English, as the study aimed to see what kind of information could be received and then provided to the students. The analysis revealed certain spelling variations, collocations, and patterns of information. The article suggests that corpus-driven analysis of written texts could be used for providing indirect feedback to higher-proficiency EFL students to foster their ability to correct their errors independently.

The present research aimed at investigating the effect of vocabulary strategy training in developing writing quality among third year EFL majors at the Faculty of Education, Al-Azhar University. To fulfil the purpose of the research, the quasi-experimental method was adopted (pretest -posttest control group design). A vocabulary learning strategy questionnaire and a writing quality test with a scoring rubric were developed by the researcher for collecting the target data after assuring their validity and reliability. The participants, totalling (64), were randomly selected form the third year EFL majors at the Faculty of Education in Dakahlia, Al-Azhar University. They were assigned into two groups: An experimental group (N= 32) and a control one (N=32). The statistical analysis of the elicited data using independent samples t-tests revealed that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores attained by the experimental group and the control one underscoring the effectiveness of the explicit vocabulary strategy training in developing writing quality as the effect size was large (Cohen's d = 1.84). The research recommended utilizing vocabulary strategy training as a framework for developing students' writing quality and other language skills.
