Utilization of Nanoparticles, Nanodevices, and Nanotechnology in the Treatment Course of Cutaneous Melanoma

Abstract: Melanoma is a highly lethal form of skin cancer caused by rapid proliferation of melanocytes, pigment‐producing cells of the skin. Despite continued advancements, current diagnostic and treatment techniques have been inadequate in decreasing the global health burden of this disease. Therefore, increased research has gone into solving these hindrances to treatment, with nanomedicine offering many promising solutions. In this review, different subtypes of nanomedicine will be discussed along with their clinical … Show more

“…As cutaneous melanoma is in the superficial tissue of the body, the nanomaterials were intratumorally injected into tumor sites to improve the treatment by increasing drug accumulation effect and reduce the risk of systemic toxicity. [ 25 ] First, the heating curves of PBS (control), PMCS, and Cu/PMCS at the tumor site in the mice were tested. Consistent with in vitro studies results, Cu doping significantly improved the photothermal effect of PMCS, and Cu/PMCS warmed up to 53.7 °C within 5 min (Figure 5b and Figure S27, Supporting Information).…”

“…Selain itu, melanoma dapat muncul di area kulit yang biasanya tidak terkena sinar matahari, seperti telapak tangan, telapak kaki, dan perineum. Beberapa lesi spesifik dikenali sebagai lesi prekursor melanoma, termasuk nevus yang didapat secara umum, nevus displastik, nevus kongenital, dan nevus biru seluler (Hartmann et al, 2022).…”

“…131,132 The most common treatment in clinics is surgical resection, followed by wound coverage with gauze, bandages, and/or cotton wools. [133][134][135] In this case, the large-sized skin wounds are difficult to heal, especially for patients with diabetes or other vascular WANG AND TANG diseases. Besides, the remaining tumor cells are likely to cause cancer recurrence.…”

“…Skin cancer is one of the most common frequent solid cancers with an estimated annual increase of 3%–7% in White populations 131,132 . The most common treatment in clinics is surgical resection, followed by wound coverage with gauze, bandages, and/or cotton wools 133–135 . In this case, the large‐sized skin wounds are difficult to heal, especially for patients with diabetes or other vascular diseases.…”
