Utility of the AD8 as a Self-Rating Tool for Cognitive Impairment in an Asian Population

Abstract: Within a transcultural setting, the p-AD8 demonstrated good discriminative validity and can be used to gain a preliminary understanding of an individual's cognitive status.

“…A strength of the present study was that we reported the symptoms frequently experienced and reported by informants or caregivers of AD patients, especially at the very mild stage. The cut‐off value of the AD8 is the same in discriminating dementia, including the very mild stage, from non‐dementia in various races, but the frequency of reported subitems in different stages of dementia were different in relation to cultural background . To our knowledge, the present study was the first one to compare the differences of reported symptoms in AD with various stages and non‐demented individuals in Japan and Taiwan.…”
