Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process to Prioritize and Select Phase Change Materials for Comfort Application in Buildings

Abstract: Phase change materials (PCMs) selection and prioritization for comfort application in buildings have a significant contribution to the improvement of latent heat storage systems. PCMs have a relatively large thermal energy storage capacity in a temperature range close to their switch point. PCMs absorb energy during the heating process as phase change takes place and release energy to the environment in the phase change range during a reverse cooling process. Thermal energy storage systems using PCMs as storag… Show more

“…The variables are said to be reliable if the value of Alpha Cronbach > 0.6 and it is valid because the output that is shown from software SPSS 16.0 is above r table, 0,188. After using HOQ, to identify the prioritizing of customer criteria, AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method was used in this research [18]- [20]. AHP was used to identify the prioritizing of houses' criteria in prone areas.…”

“…In low-temperature industries, salt eutectic PCMs are applied for the temperature range of −60°C to 15°C. Organic PCMs, including paraffin and fatty acids (non-paraffin), have been applied for a temperature range of −110°C to 20°C (Socaciu et al 2014;L. Yang, Villalobos et al 2021).…”

“…Careful selection of the appropriate PCM is essential for the TESS. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) procedure is used by several studies in the field of TESSs for selecting the appropriate PCM 21‐23 . The S‐T configuration is intensively studied in latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES).…”
