Purpose of ReviewTo describe models of integrated and co-located care for opioid use disorder (OUD), hepatitis C (HCV), and HIV.Recent FindingsThe design and scale-up of multidisciplinary care models that engage, retain, and treat individuals with HIV, HCV, and OUD are critical to preventing continued spread of HIV and HCV. We identified 17 models within primary care (N = 3), HIV specialty care (N = 5), opioid treatment programs (N = 6), transitional clinics (N = 2), and community-based harm reduction programs (N = 1), as well as two emerging models.SummaryKey components of such models are the provision of (1) medication-assisted treatment for OUD, (2) HIV and HCV treatment, (3) HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, and (4) behavioral health services. Research is needed to understand differences in effectiveness between co-located and fully integrated care, combat the deleterious racial and ethnic legacies of the “War on Drugs,” and inform the delivery of psychiatric care. Objective. To analyze sociodemographic and behavioral factors associated with vulnerability to HIV according to sexual orientation. Method. is is a cross-sectional study conducted using data on 3,818 people in the city of Imperatriz, Brazil, during 2015 and 2016. e survey's questionnaires addressed sociodemographic and behavioral variables. For the data analysis, association (chi-square test) and strength of association (odds ratio) were observed. A significance level of 푝 < 0.05 and adjustment for age and gender were taken into consideration. Results. A substantial portion of the sample stated they were heterosexual (88.8%). ese individuals demonstrated a lower chance of HIV infection (푝 < 0.001), sexually transmitted infections (푝 < 0.001), alcohol use (푝 < 0.001) and condom use (푝 < 0.001), compared to men who have sex with men and/or bisexuals. In this group, a er adjusting for confounding variables, the factors associated with HIV infection were being male (푝 < 0.001), unmarried (푝 < 0.001), having completed higher education (푝 < 0.001) and boasting multiple sexual partners (푝 < 0.001). Conclusion. Behavioral and sociodemographic factors of vulnerability to HIV are predominant among men who have sex with men and/or are bisexual.

Health Behavior Theory to Enhance eHealth Intervention Research in HIV: Rationale and Review

Purpose of Review Optimal design and evaluation of eHealth interventions requires the specification of behavioral targets and hypothesized mechanisms of action – both of which can be enhanced with the use of established health behavior theories (HBTs). In this paper, we describe the major HBTs and examine their use in studies of eHealth interventions for HIV prevention and treatment, and assess the contribution of HBT in developing and evaluating eHealth interventions. Recent Finding Based on our review of the literature, we argue the field can benefit from more systematic selection, application and reporting of HBT. We highlight theories specifically designed for eHealth and describe ways that HBT can be used by researchers and practitioners to improve the rigor and impact of eHealth interventions for individuals living with or at risk for HIV. Summary This brief overview of HBTs and their application to eHealth intervention in HIV research has underscored the importance of a theoretically intentional approach. The theory should be used to inform the design of the eHealth intervention; the intervention should not determine the theory. A theory-driven iterative model of eHealth intervention development may not only improve our repertoire of effective strategies but also has the potential to expand our theoretical and empirical knowledge of health behavior change.
