Organization’s competitiveness and profitability are part of its main objectives, developing different strategies to position themselves as one of the best, being one of these strategies Six Sigma (SS), initially developed in processes of manufacturing to eliminate production and services defects. However, literature has reported various applications and areas of implementation of SS, such as the administrative area. The objective of this article is to present results obtained in literature review related to the SS strategy. The article begins with basic strategy definitions, followed by the main applications and implementation areas, additionally, an analysis of the critical success factors (CSF) is shown as a suggestion for those who wish to develop the strategy and improve the administrative processes. The CSF is: Management Support and Commitment, Relationship with Clients, Organizational Culture, Education and Training, Organizational Infrastructure and Communication.

As one of railway manufacturing company in Southeast Asia, quality is an important factor in maintaining customer satisfaction and one of the key success in business competition. During the railway production, there is problem in the assembly process of car body sub assembly, namely underframe. Defective products have been found which cause the underframe to be repair, so the underframe production is delayed. The type of defect is porosity, which results from the welding process during the assembly process. Therefore, this study uses the Six Sigma method with the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve (DMAI) approach to give improvements on welding process so the defect-which is porosity will be reduced or may not exist and to maintain the quality. Define phase using Supplier-Input-Process-Output-Customer (SIPOC) diagram and Critical to Quality (CTQ). Measure phase using c-Chart to know the process stability, then Cp and Sigma Level to know the process capability. Fishbone diagram and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) are used in the analyze phase. The result of FMEA is the base to design improvements in the improve phase, the improvements are material storage characteristics, workstation design and procedure display.

Abstract.A remarkable success depends on a variety of factors, one of which is the ability to motivate the employees, increasing motivation of managers, measuring business processes and measuring and observing values of the company. The tangible results are also shown by the indicator of return on equity (ROE). The article aims at reflecting the importance of ROE for the EVA Equity (economic value added for shareholders) calculation of Motor Jikov Strojírenská, a.s. The data come from Albertina database. These are details of financial statements from 2000-2015. As a matter of fact, weighted average costs of capital, alternative cost value of equity capital and EVA Equity are calculated. Software Statistica and its sophisticated tool data mining -automated neural networks was used for finding a correlation between EVA Equity indicator and ROE. In addition, 10,000 neural networks were generated, five of which with the best results have been stored. The results show that EVA Equity is not dependent on the ROE rate.
