Using SEVIRI radiances to retrieve cloud optical properties of convective cloud systems

Abstract: Abstract. In this case study the development of cloud properties (cloud optical depth, effective radius and cloud top height) during the life-cycle of a convective cloud system over Europe was analyzed. To retrieve the properties we developed a retrieval scheme based on the radiative transfer code MOMO and an optimal estimation procedure. Input data are the visible to short-wavelength infrared channels from SEVIRI. In contrast to many other retrieval schemes we used 4 channels simultaneously. Especially the 3,… Show more

“…Additionally, the performance of PV system is dependent on radiation and temperature [4,5]. Several researchers had carried out a lot of researches on solar energy evaluation so that different models as a result of their studies can be proposed in order to evaluate the amount of solar radiation.…”

“…For example, high ambient temperature reduces the band gap of semiconductors consequently leading to a reduction in open circuit voltage and output power [2]. Also, it is found out that low temperature leads to interconnect breakage of PV module [3] [4] and [5] has found 5% of power losses during the winter season in Leganes Madrid.…”
