“…Netnography has recently grown in popularity due to it offering practical tools for qualitative data collection and analysis, and insight for several types of research problems [47]. The method can be used for, for example, validating prior perceptions of status quo in various industry sectors [48], for understanding new emerging internet platforms and their users [49], for gaining insight on player behaviour in online games [50] and for, as in our case, understanding player community responses to in-game updates and the global pandemic situation. Table 2 summarises the data collection sources.…”

“…This began by utilising a netnography study Findings with the objective of interpreting the views and insights of Chinese SMEs, and exploring the complexity of the B2B brand management in the Chinese context. Previous netnographic research indicates that a combining of netnography with other methods can be effective in providing triangulation and complementarity so as to enhance the overall reliability of findings, particularly where a combination of netnography and interviews is adopted (Wang et al, 2017;Janta et al, 2012;Kozinets and Handelman, 1998). In line with existing studies, the interview method was used following the netnographic exploration.…”

“…The sequencing we followed was to ensure that information gathered from the netnographic setting could then be used to stimulate more meaningful exchanges in the interviews. This is a widely recognised approach to producing more valid findings than can be gleaned from artificial interview settings alone (Sherry, 1990;Wang et al, 2017).…”

“…On the one hand, for discussion; on the other hand, for text analysis. The characteristics of narrative analysis are not limited to the text itself, but also analyze the text construction situation: avoiding the simple review of the "text itself", but should include the social history of constructive discussion into the analysis, so that the analytical argument is more grounded and can provide more multiple insights [14]. Therefore text analysis is part of the narrative analysis [15][16][17].…”
