“…One potential advantage of hypoglycemic drug based on glycosidase inhibitors is that they may carry a reduced risk of hypoglycemia, which is related to the hypoglycemic mechanism. α-Glucosidase inhibitors can efficiently inhibit disaccharide-hydrolyzing glycosidase in the intestine, and suppress postprandial elevation of plasma glucose by delaying the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, which are less likely to lead to the hypoglycemia.
