Using Electronic Data Capture for Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Invasive Procedures: An Important Step Towards Interoperable Clinical Registries

Abstract: Introduction: The capture and integration of structured data from point of care into clinical registries has been a challenge. However, this effort is very important toward a qualitative patient care and research. Collection, organization and interpretation of clinical data can help to improve evidence-based medicine practices. Worksheets data capture are prevalent, but, not flexible, protected, workflow pleasant, and user friendly and do not support the creation of standardized and interoperable data. The aim… Show more

“…The Dallas registry is a web-based system designed to study the natural history of vitiligo, its risk factors and pathogenesis, and the optimal treatment of patients having this disease (Hinojosa & Pandya, 2017). Because of the advantages of web-based applications, including reduced costs and increased data security and accessibility, most of the disease registries worldwide are developed on the web platform (Shanbehzadeh et al, 2020). Therefore, in this study, this platform was used to develop the registry.…”

Shanbehzadeh et al ( 11 ) described the development of EDC using REDCap in the field of cardiology, which significantly improved the efficiency of clinical documentation. The Ligurian Infectious Diseases Network (LIDN) ( 12 ) provides a good example of the scope of expansion of small and disease specific EHRs.…”
