Abstract: Accessibility is a comprehensive performance measure for the integration between land use and transport systems. In this research, two accessibility measures were applied to evaluate the integration between transport and land use in Hanoi metropolitan area: Vietnam, which has a typical monocentric urban form in the current situation, and Randstad metropolitan area, the Netherlands, which has a typical polycentric urban form. “…A comprehensive spatial accessibility assessment would help policymakers to take appropriate actions for improving overall accessibility in cities. Relevant indicators are selected from various literature regarding mobility/walkability [46][47][48], for land cover [49], and for network density, connectivity [50,51], as shown in Table 1. The selection of diverse and multifold opportunities will provide a viable option to assess accessibility plans in a much better way.…”

“…Various studies have discussed the application of location-based measures. For instance, in Tel Aviv and Ha Noi, these have been used to assess the difference between potential accessibility by car and public transport (Benenson et al, 2010;Hong Ha et al, 2011); in Boston, Los Angeles, and Tokyo between potential accessibility to jobs versus different urban form (Kawabata and Shen, 2006); in Finland to study the relation between potential accessibility by road and railway to population change (Kotavaara et al, 2011); and in China to develop an Urban Accessibility Planning Support System (Shi et al, 2012). More complex location-based measures explicitly incorporate capacity restrictions of supplied activity characteristics to include competition effects (Geurs and Ritsema van Eck, 2003;Cheng and Bertolini, 2013).…”
