Urban aquaponics farming and cities- a systematic literature review

Abstract: An aquaponic system is considered to be a sustainable food production solution that follows circular economy principles and the biomimetic natural system to reduce input and waste. It is the combination of two mainly productive systems, a recirculating aquaculture system consists of fish and crustaceans farmed in a tank and hydroponic cultivation consists of vegetable cultured in medium other than soil. Both these systems are well-known around the globe by their performance of production, quality, and verified… Show more

“…In recent time, numerous applications have been developed to bring mobile‐based services to the users in healthcare. The applications of smart phone allow the patients to know about their diseases after the analysis in the gynecology and pediatrics fields 91 . M‐healthcare‐based IoT services provide easiness to the patients to save money and time without physical visits to the hospitals, unless their situations turn out to be severe.…”

“…Section 3) leads to a more regular nutrient supply for the plants. The restriction to tanks is omitted by Wirza and Nazir 45 referring to Rakocy et al 1 in their aquaponics’ description. Lennard 30 does not justify restricting his definition to fish tanks but points out the frequent use of recirculation aquaculture systems, which require fish tanks.…”

“…The third definition issue is whether (and which) other elements besides thresholds are part of the definition. (1) Microorganisms should be included 45 as these are critical to the success of any aquaponic setup 2,4,49,50,51 . Additional beneficial microorganisms can further enhance the performance of some fish when applied in biofloc technology, 52,53 which is used in aquaponics as well 54,55 .…”

“…Budikdamber is a maintenance system by spreading fi sh and vegetables in a maintenance container together. Budikdamber is one of the Urban Farming programs, as one of the solutions in meeting family nutritional needs so as to increase family food security (Sunny et al 2019;Wirza and Nazir 2021) . The obstacles to the practice of handling stunting in the three stunting loci of Klojen District, Malang City are still fi nanced by non-governmental organizations so that they are still carried out in limited quantities.…”
