Upper miocene submarine basalts from the western margin of the Red Sea (Secca Fawn-l hole, massawa channel)

Abstract: ZusammenfassnngDie Secca-Fawn-l-Bohrung, die 1968 von der Gulf Oil Company am westlichen Rand des siidlichen Roten Meeres abgeteuft wurde, erreichte in 1400 m Tiefe eine Folge von jungmioziinen bis altplioz~inen submarinen Basaltlagen, die mindestens 600 m m~ichtig sind. Es wurden homogene Basaltfragmente aus den Cuttings auf ihren Hauptelementgehalt hin analysiert; zahlreiche Spurenelemente wurden in einer Reihe dieser Proben bestimmt.
