“…The drug appeared to inhibit the release of surfactant in baboons, although the infants did not develop respiratory distress (Kling & Kotas, 1975). In pharmacological studies, in the normal human, administration of metyrapone for 6 days in late pregnancy did not result in adverse effects on the fetus or the mother (Heinen et a[., 1963). In our patient the fetal growth, as measured by the biparietal skull diameter, and fetal wellbeing were satisfactory and at delivery the infant had no signs of adrenal insufficiency.…”
