Bei der therrnischen Wolff-Urnlagerung der Diazoketone treten Ketocarbene als echte Zwischenstufen auf. Dieintramolekulare Urnlagerung zu Ketenen vollzieht sich beirn Benzoyl-carben oder beim Phenyl-benzoyl-carben so rasch, daR intermolekulare Reaktionen nur untergeordnet oder gar nicht zum Zug kommen. Erst wenn man die Lebensdauer der Ketocarbene durch Wechselwirkung mit Kupfer, durch Einfuhrung elektronenanziehender und damit weniger wanderungsbereiter Substituenten oder durch Ausnutzen von Ringspannung erhoht, gelingt das Abfangen durch 1.3-Cycloaddition mit Benzonitril oder Tolan.Nach L.WOLFF~) erleiden Diazoketone nach thermischer oder durch Silber-Ion katalysierter Stickstoffabspaltung eine molekulare Umlagerung, die in Gegenwart nucleophiler Partner HX zu Carbonsauren oder deren Derivaten fuhrt. Beirn Arbeiten im inerten Solvens lieBen sich in einigen Fallen Kctene als faRbare Zwischenstufen isolierens); dies gilt insbesondere von der photochemischen Variante der WoLFr-Umlagerung6). In der Kettenverlangerung von Carbonsluren (ARNDT-EISTERT-SyntheSe)7) und als Methode der Ringverengungs) komrnt der Wolff-Umlagerung prlparative Bedeutung zu. Schon L. WOLFF~) und G . SCHROETERS) vermuteten ak Primarprodukt der Stickstoffablosung aus dem Diazoketon ein Molekulbruchstuck, das in der modernen Formulierung als Ketocurben Z erscheint und i m Singulettzustand mit neutraler und zwitterionischen Sextett-Grenzformeln beschreibbar ist. Synthesis, Thermal Stability, and Chemiluminescence Properties of Bisdioxetanes Derived from p ‐Dioxines

By elimination of methanol from 2,5-dimethoxy-1,4-dioxanes and 2,3-dihydro-2-methoxy-1,4-dioxines on treatment with p-toluenesulfonic acid in acetic anhydride, the new tetrakis(4-methoxypheny1)-, tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)-, tetra-p-tolyl-, and 2,5-dimethyl-3,6-diphenyl-l,4-dioxines (1) were prepared in good yields. Photosensitized singlet oxygenation of these 1,4-dioxines 1 afforded the corresponding bisdioxetanes 2, the 1,2-diketones, and the enediol diesters 7. Thermal decomposition of the bisdioxetanes 2 yielded the corresponding anhydrides 4 essentially quantitatively. During the thermolysis of 1,6-dimethyl-3,8-diphenyl-2,4,5,7,9,10-hexaoxatricyclo[6.2.0.03~6]decane (20 appreciable amounts of (3R,4S)-3-acetoxy-4-(benzoyloxy)-4-methyl-3-phenyl-l,2-dioxetane (3f) were detected. The bisdioxetanes 2 and monodioxetane 3f exhibited similar thermal stabilities, the free energies of activation (AG +) at 298 K falling within 25.5 + 1.5 kcal/mol. The singlet excitation yields (@) ranged between 0.003 and 0.03% and the triplet excitation yields (@' ) between 9.5 and 71.5%. Despite the favorable energy balance, it is concluded that no higher excited states of anhydride 4f are produced during the thermolysis of bisdioxetane 2f. On thermal activation, the bisdioxetanes decompose by sequential cleavage of the two dioxetane rings.

Es wird über Synthese, chemische und physikalisch‐chemische Eigenschaften von O‐(Phenylalkyl)‐hydroxylaminen berichtet. Die Hydrochloride derjenigen Basen, in welchen die Hydroxylamingruppierung und der Phenylkern durch zwei C‐Atome getrennt sind, sind merkwürdigerweise unbeständig und lagern sich spontan bei Zimmertemperatur zu einem Ammoniumsalz und stickstoffreien Verbindungen um. Letztere wurden zum Teil gas‐chromatographisch getrennt und identifiziert. Es entstehen: aus O‐(1‐Methyl‐2‐phenyl‐äthyl)‐hydroxylamin‐hydrochlorid: Ammonium‐chlorid, Propiophenon (72%) und Methylbenzylketon (28%); aus O‐(2‐Phenyl‐äthyl)‐hydroxylamin‐hydrochlorid: Ammoniumchlorid und 2,5‐Diphenyl‐1, 4‐dioxan; aus O‐(1‐Methyl‐2‐phenyl‐äthyl)‐N‐methyl‐hydroxylamin‐hydrochlorid: Methylaminhydrochlorid, Proprophenon (59,4%) und Methyl‐benzyl‐keton (40,6%); aus O‐(2‐Phenylpropyl)‐hydroxylamin‐hydrochlorid: Ammoniumchlorid, Acetophenon (90,4%), Propiophenon (8,6%) und Methyl‐benzyl‐keton (1,0%).
