Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease in Pregnancy: A Topic Yet to be Explored

Abstract: Undifferentiated connective tissue disease (UCTD) is characterized by signs and symptoms suggestive of a connective tissue disease (CTD), but not fulfilling criteria for a specific CTD. Although UCTD is probably the most common rheumatic disease diagnosed in pregnant women, data about disease course during pregnancy and perinatal outcomes are very limited. “…In our observation group, 30 patients (33.33%) were diagnosed with UCTD, all con rmed through early pregnancy screening. A few patients showed abnormal symptoms, including photosensitivity, morning stiffness, and facial erythema [15] . Obstetric experts recommend that preliminary anti-phospholipid antibody (aPL) screening should be carried out during the transition period (13-14 weeks) when early pregnancy transitions to middle pregnancy.…”
