Purpose: Based on social cognitive theory, the present study aimed to explore the impact of entrepreneurial leadership on employees' innovative work behavior through the moderating path of entrepreneurial self-efficacy in technology-based SMEs. The study also explains the mechanism through which a firm's innovative environment mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and employees' innovative work behavior. Methods: To pursue the objectives, this study has used data from a sample of 350 supervisor-subordinate dyads working in cross sectional small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in the Jiangsu province of China. Based on social cognitive theory and specific continuum of self-efficacy theory, a conceptual model was developed and the hypotheses were tested with the help of SPSS 20. Findings: Empirical findings recommend a significant positive effect of entrepreneurial leadership on employees' innovative work behavior. The study suggested that firm's innovative environment mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and the employees' innovative behavior. The results also confirmed that entrepreneurial self-efficacy exerts a positive moderating effect on the association of entrepreneurial leadership and employees' innovative behavior. Conclusion: Findings of the present research work have several implications for the management and policymakers of high-tech SMEs who want to augment their employees' innovative behavior in order to compete in a highly competitive and challenging business environment. To the best of authors' knowledge, this work is the first attempt that presents an empirically supported comprehensive model for the development of employees' innovative behavior within entrepreneurial-based high-tech SMEs. It contributes to literature by examining the mediation and moderation process for the development of employees' innovative behavior.

To address the renovation needs of detached house stock in Sweden, micro and small-sized enterprises (MSEs), a subgroup of small and medium-sized enterprises, are expected to introduce more comprehensive house renovation solutions. One-stop-shop (OSS) is an innovative Product-Service System model that can enable MSEs to offer comprehensive renovation packages instead of existing fragmented solutions. We have applied a conceptual framework for innovation adoption in organizations and conducted an interview of 21 construction MSEs in three different geographical areas in Sweden to examine their perceptions and preparedness to adopt the OSS business concept. Findings showed that the examined MSEs are positive towards OSS as it could address the needs for the comprehensive renovation of detached houses. However, presently, are not prepared to take the coordinator's role in such a concept mainly due to the perceived business risks, the lack of flexibility to organizational restructuring, and lack of resources and management competency to coordinate multiple tasks and actors. Those organizations lacked awareness of existing policy support and access to funding mechanisms to try new business models. As a solution, they proposed an external coordinator to be the provider of OSS, on the trial phase, whose role and characteristics need to be further examined.

The Relationship Between Financial Development and Innovation: Empirical Evidence from Selected Asian Countries

This study extends research on the relationship between financial development (FD) and innovation by dividing FD into bank-based FD and stock-market-based FD and investigating their effects on innovation. The number of patent applications is used as a proxy for innovative activities, and the financial development of a country is measured by the development of the banking sector and the stock market. The study employs the two-step Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) to test the relationship using a panel data set in 25 various Asian countries in the period from 2000 to 2015. The development of the banking sector and the stock market increase the number of patent applications, but their interaction calculated by financial structure is not related to innovation. The finding indicates that the development of a financial system encourages innovation regardless of the difference in the development level between its components. The study provides more insights into the impact of financial market development on the domestically economic activities.
