“…Same results are also pinpointed in Lee et al 13 Furthermore, findings underscore the absence of information efforts and any training efforts. 12,13 Regarding users' safety awareness of tunnel facilities and installations, Zeeri et al 4 refers that a significant part of drivers are unfamiliar with the proper usage of fire extinguishers and emergency telephone booths and are unwilling to abandon their car in the event of a fire accident. Kirytopoulos et al 3 indicates that a substantial proportion of respondents disregard them, putting themselves at risk in the event of an emergency.…”

“…Once a tunnel traffic safety accident occurs, it has serious impacts, including traffic congestion, vehicle damage, tunnel damage, and casualties [21]. Meanwhile, the limitations of the tunnel environment aggravate the consequences of accidents [22]. According to Table 1, once a traffic accident occurs in a freeway tunnel, it will seriously affect the traffic situation, leading to traffic jams.…”

“…e rolling quantitative fusion method is adapted to calculate the reliability degree, as in the method, the closer it is to the mean, the greater the data weight and there is no relationship with the data itself. “…To be specific, sharp lighting difference between the exterior and interior of the tunnel portal reduces the sight distance of the driver in the approaching vehicle, and then the driver experiences visual oscillation incurred by an abrupt lighting transition through the entrance and exit zones of the tunnel [ 6 , 7 ], as represented in Figure 1 . In addition, once the crash occurs, a secondary crash (SC) is highly likely to happen since drivers may not have immediate responses to the hazardous traffic turbulence [ 8 ]. Therefore, the frequent transitions between daylight and tunnel lighting in serial tunnels require drivers to visually adapt and react quickly, which increases the SC risk and challenges the safety condition of serial tunnels.…”
