The development of automated technologies in our daily life has transformed the role of human operators from a controller to a teammate who shares control with automated agents. However, this 'teammate' relationship between humans and automation raises an important but challenging research question regarding the formation of human-agent trust. Considering that the formation of human-agent trust is a dynamic and sophisticated process involving human factors, this study conducted a two-phase online experiment to examine personal influences on users' trust propensity and their trust formation in human-agent interactions. Our findings revealed distinctive personal influences on dispositional trust and the formation of human-agent trust at different stages. We found that users who exhibit higher trust propensities in humans also develop higher trust toward automated agents in initial stages. This study, as the first of its kind, not only fills the gap of knowledge about personal influences on human-agent trust, but also offers opportunities to enhance the future design of automated agent systems.

As one of the biggest technology breakthrough, Internet of Things (IoT) has been gaining much attention in every industry it’s involved in. Especially in the healthcare sector, IoT health devices have been proved to have a great impact on individual’s health regulation. Through many beneficial features from tracking sleep patterns to tracking chemicals in the blood, individuals will gain a better understanding of their body and how to keep it healthy. However, great benefit is one thing, and it does not immediately equal users’ acceptance. In this study, we seek to find elements that we propose to have an impact in predicting user’s intention of using IoT health device and integrate them into a model. We will analyze user’s technology acceptance from the perspective of Technology Acceptance Model, using Perceived Usefulness as the main predictor for Behavioral Intention. We also integrate Personality Traits and Facilitated Appropriation as factors to determine Perceived Usefulness, and finally using Hofstede’s Cultural Value, we seek to determine the antecedent of Facilitated Appropriation. The research design was correlational predictive, with path analysis technique. Participants of this study were 186 college students from IT campus (75 males, 111 females; mean of age = 20.86 years of old, standard deviation of age = 2.01 years) across Greater Jakarta. The results showed that Perceived Usefulness can predict intention to use the device. However, Personality Traits were found to be irrelevant in predicting perceived usefulness. Only Facilitated Appropriation could predict perceived usefulness. Among cultural values proposed, only the Long-term Orientation can predict user’s tendency to engage in Facilitated Appropriation. Also, we did not find any correlation between age and all technology acceptance factors (Behavioral Intention, Perceived Usefulness, and Facilitated Appropriation).

Interests in technology innovation has increased in many organizations. Collaborations among technology providers and marketers are occurring as they integrate these biometric technologies as a means of convenience and security for their consumers. Despite the benefits of integrating new technology to ease consumers' shopping experience, consumers are skeptical about using technology that requires their biometric data. Two studies were conducted to investigate the trust toward these biometric payment systems. Study 1 was conducted through a survey. The study investigated antecedents that affect consumers' trust of, attitude toward, and usage of a biometric payment system. Based on the results from Study 1, Study 2 was conducted by introducing two shopping modalities in the study. The results show that consumers would rather use a biometric payment system in stores than online. Between the two modalities, consumers' trust and attitude toward the technology have a stronger mediating role for online than in‐store toward their intention to use. In addition, self‐efficacy consistently moderates the antecedents (performance expectation and perceived risk) and their intention to use.
