Impulsive buying is an interesting research topic for psychologists and economists for its practical implications in the daily lives of producers, marketers and consumers in the trading world. The topic is also relevant to both micro and macro economy field of studies. There have been abundance explanations for impulsive buying social phenomenon provided, but the cultural factors points of view are rarely studied empirically. This research showed its original contribution to the body of knowledge of buying impulsiveness since it includes the Hofstede's cultural dimensions on individual level in its research model. In addition, the research employed the symbolic meaning of money for predictor variable of impulse buying. There were 200 Indonesian students participated in this research (91 males, 109 females) and they went to seven campuses located in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. The multiple linear regression analysis showed that that power distance belief, collectivism, and symbolic meaning of money all together positively related to impulsive buying. The uncertainty avoidance cultural dimension and impulsive buying are negatively correlated. It has been expected that this research will be much beneficial for all stakeholders. They can manage the perception of culture and symbolic meanings of money in order to lever, improve or decrease impulsive buying according to whatever the stakeholder's goal is. Discussion and suggestions for further similar research are elaborated in the last section of this report.
As one of the biggest technology breakthrough, Internet of Things (IoT) has been gaining much attention in every industry it’s involved in. Especially in the healthcare sector, IoT health devices have been proved to have a great impact on individual’s health regulation. Through many beneficial features from tracking sleep patterns to tracking chemicals in the blood, individuals will gain a better understanding of their body and how to keep it healthy. However, great benefit is one thing, and it does not immediately equal users’ acceptance. In this study, we seek to find elements that we propose to have an impact in predicting user’s intention of using IoT health device and integrate them into a model. We will analyze user’s technology acceptance from the perspective of Technology Acceptance Model, using Perceived Usefulness as the main predictor for Behavioral Intention. We also integrate Personality Traits and Facilitated Appropriation as factors to determine Perceived Usefulness, and finally using Hofstede’s Cultural Value, we seek to determine the antecedent of Facilitated Appropriation. The research design was correlational predictive, with path analysis technique. Participants of this study were 186 college students from IT campus (75 males, 111 females; mean of age = 20.86 years of old, standard deviation of age = 2.01 years) across Greater Jakarta. The results showed that Perceived Usefulness can predict intention to use the device. However, Personality Traits were found to be irrelevant in predicting perceived usefulness. Only Facilitated Appropriation could predict perceived usefulness. Among cultural values proposed, only the Long-term Orientation can predict user’s tendency to engage in Facilitated Appropriation. Also, we did not find any correlation between age and all technology acceptance factors (Behavioral Intention, Perceived Usefulness, and Facilitated Appropriation).
Introduction. The quality of journals in Indonesia is much criticized; however, the number of Indonesian journals that meet the criteria of Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ) is quite a lot. This study describes some facts of Indonesia’s publications based on DOAJ and World Bank data.Data Collection Method. Some filtering processes in DOAJ database were done based on sum of journals, scientific fields distribution, and Article Processing Charge (APC). Open data regarding research funds among countries in World Bank database were analyzed.Data Analysis. This study used quantitative-descriptive design with frequency analysis technique. Data visualization was done with R Statistical Computing and Google Sheets. Results and Discussions. In March 2017, there were 500 Indonesian journals (5th rank worldwide); 420 of them were in Indonesian covering more than 51,000 articles (7th rank). The top three fields were: education, Islam religion, as well as business and commerce. As much as 70% of the journals were free of APC. Science must prioritize inclusiveness and equality inline with the principles of originality and honesty.Conclusions. This study concludes that open access journals in Indonesia improves the accessibility, quality, and relevance of Indonesian research, which can be reused by communities, industries, and the government.

Environmental problem is one of the biggest problems that threatens human life. Human behavior has long been known to play an important role in maintaining and improving environmental sustainability. Psychological studies investigating predictors of pro-environmental behavior have been carried out, but no studies link it with cynicism and self-efficacy simultaneously. This study design was predictive correlational and data analysis technique employed was multiple linear regression analysis. Participants of this study were 205 undergraduate students in Jakarta (132 males, 73 females; Mage = 19.68 years old; SDage = 0.849 years) taken using convenience sampling technique. This study found that cynicism and environmental self-efficacy are able to predict proenvironmental behavior in positive directions. This study suggests revising the measurement instrument of cynicism.
