Undecanoic and 10‐Undecenoic Acid‐Based Amidobetaines and Amidoamine Oxides

Abstract: Three types of undecanoic and 10‐undecenoic acid‐based surfactants were synthesized in the present work: amphoteric amidobetaines, cationic amidobetaine chlorides and nonionic amidoamine oxides. Structural characterizations of synthesized compounds were based on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) (1H and 13C) and mass spectrometry. Surface properties, such as critical micelle concentration (CMC), surface tension at cmc (γcmc), efficiency of surface adsorption (pC20), surface excess (Γmax) and minimum area per mo… Show more

“…The critical micelle concentration and surface tension were slightly higher than the surfactant prepared with the saturated fatty acid undecanoic acid. However, the surface area and adsorption efficiency and the anisotropy in the micelle core are lower . The Stepan Company, in the USA, developed a liquid detergent for dishwashing containing amidoamine and amidoamine sufobetaine and based on C 10 –C 17 olefin acid.…”
