Uncertainty measurement with the kinematic telescopic bar during industrial robot inaccuracy tests

Abstract: Abstract. The subject of this article is the assessment of measurement uncertainty with the kinematic telescopic bar QC20-W in the accuracy test of MOTOMAN HP20 industrial robot. The measurements were performed to determine the statistical uncertainty of error measurement using the system applied. Analysed in tests was the robot's ability to recreate a circular outline through standard, complex and extended measurement of uncertainty measurement. The obtained results were served to perform rapid evaluation of … Show more

“…It characterises the dispersion of the results obtained and it can be determined on the basis of two methods, i.e., A and B. The uncertainty component of A method is based on the statistical analysis of the measurement results, i.e., the calculation of the standard deviation of the mean, while the uncertainty component of B method takes into account the data included in the calibration certification of the measuring instrument used [ 3 , 30 ].…”

“…However, only positional repeatability is specified by manufacturers in the robot selection specifications. Most of the characteristics are tested using an imaginary ISO cube inserted into the robot's workspace so that it is where the robot most often operates [16][17][18].…”

“…Verification via a telescopic ballbar offers a relatively easy and fast check of CNC-machining machines positioning according to globally recognized ISO and ANSI standards [12]. The ISO 230-1 standard mentions the ballbar as the regular tool, which made it the most frequently used tool for verifying the properties of not only industrial robots [13,14]. It offers troubleshooting that enables problem detection, thus making it possible to identify the source of error.…”
