“…Muller et al [65] found that high variations in IVC diameter are associated with fluid responsiveness, but low variations do not exclude the fluid responsiveness emphasizing that the results should be interpreted carefully. On the other hand, Juhl-Olsen et al [66] did not find any change in IVC diameter in patients before and after the donation of blood. Since there are recent studies showing the high sensitivity and specificity of ultrasonographic evaluation of IVC collapse, it is definitely worth performing further investigations to clarify its effectiveness.…”
