Ultrasonic Spectroscopy of Silicon Single Crystal

Abstract: Specimens of Si single crystals with different crystal orientation [100] and [110] were studied by ElectroUltrasonic Spectroscopy (EUS) and Resonant Ultrasonic Spectroscopy (RUS). A silicon single crystal is an anisotropic crystal, so its properties are different in different directions in the material relative to the crystal orientation. EUS is based on interaction of two signals: an electric AC signal and an ultrasonic signal, which are working on different frequencies. The ultrasonic wave affects the charg… Show more

“…These methods are performed at Gdansk University of Technology [1][2][3][4][5]. The electro-ultrasonic spectroscopy (EUS) is also the method of NDT type [6][7][8][9][10]. The influence of the electro-ultrasonic signal with low frequency range of ultrasonic signal on specimen is still unclear.…”

“…Some of the methods are used in different production stages [1][2][3], other during exploitation [4,5] or in a laboratory only [6] but still there are no universal methods which could be applied for cheap and widespread varistor quality monitoring in their work. The pros and cons of these methods as well as their further development will be described.…”

“…Analyses of electron transport parameters are the most promising methods which provide non-destructive evaluation. Experiments are based on the measurements of device I-V characteristics [7], I-V characteristic nonlinearity using the non-linearity index (NLI) [8,9], electronic noise spectroscopy [10 -12], and electro-ultrasonic spectroscopy [13].…”
