Ultrasensitive and selective colorimetric detection of uric acid using peroxidase mimetic activity of biogenic palladium nanoparticles

Abstract: Uric acid (2,6,8-trihydroxypurine) is a metabolic product of purine, which is one of the important markers of human health. The development of a rapid, facile, highly sensitive, and selective method for uric acid detection is critical for the diagnosis of related diseases and is still a strategic challenge. In this study, we developed a highly sensitive and selective colorimetric assay for the detection of uric acid using biogenic palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs). The synthesized nanoparticles were shown to ac… Show more

“…Tripathi and Chung [31] fabricated palladium NPs (Pd NPs) using Erigeron canadensis leaf extract, a simple, and economical method for detecting uric acid biomarkers. They reported that the fabricated NPs exhibited a peroxidase mimetic activity that oxidized the peroxidase substrate 3,3 0 ,5,5 0 -tetramethylbenzidine (TMB).…”

“…The study reported that MK ZnO NPs exhibited substantial antidiabetic and cytotoxic activities, antibacterial activity, and free‐radical scavenging. Tripathi and Chung [31] fabricated palladium NPs (Pd NPs) using Erigeron canadensis leaf extract, a simple, and economical method for detecting uric acid biomarkers. They reported that the fabricated NPs exhibited a peroxidase mimetic activity that oxidized the peroxidase substrate 3,3′,5,5′‐tetramethylbenzidine (TMB).…”

“…The determination of UA concentration can be used as an auxiliary means of clinical preliminary diagnosis. At present, the reported detection methods include uorescence analysis (15,16), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) (17), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)(18), electrochemical (19,20), colorimetric (21,22) and capillary electrophoresis (23). Although these methods have good sensitivity and wide range of application, they have some shortcomings, including instability of experiments and complex operation procedures.…”
