Ultimate Shear of RC Beams with Corroded Stirrups and Strengthened with FRP

Abstract: Transverse reinforcement plays a key role in the response behavior of reinforced concrete beams. Therefore, corrosion of steel stirrups may change the failure mode of elements from bending to shear, leading to a brittle and catastrophic crisis. It is important to strengthen reinforced concrete beams with corroded stirrups to enhance the shear resistance. This paper presents a formulation, based on the modified compression field theory, to estimate the ultimate shear of reinforced concrete beams strengthened wi… Show more

“…e thickness of the wrapping is about 3 mm and 5 mm. Now the compressive strength of the columns is to be tested, and then the results are to be analyzed: if thickness of wrapping can attain the maximum strength [8]. e comparison is made between the wrapped column and the unwrapped column [21].…”

“…Carbon fiber composite (CFRP) has the advantages of lightweight, high strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance. erefore, CFRP is widely used to strength and repair damaged bridges, while greatly reducing installation time and cost [14]. At present, the reinforcement of corroded prestressed concrete structures by CFRP has attracted much attention.…”
