“…Among various type of ships, the oil tanker which can bring about a significant amount of pollution has been utilized as a target structure in the simulations and a host of researchers have fulfilled studies with oil tankers to reduce loss of financial properties and to prevent loss of lives and environmental damages (Zheng et al 2007, Tavakoli et al 2010, Kim et al 2015, Faisal et al 2016, Parunov et al 2016, Youssef et al 2014.…”

“…In the present analysis, the Aframax class tanker is considered as the struck ship and a ferry as the striking ship (Parunov et al 2016). The main particulars for both the struck and the striking ship are listed in Table 1.…”

“…Such approach enables not only comparison of damage size histograms between IMO and numerical simulations but also establishing mutual correlation among damage length, breadth and height. Finally, the established correlation is employed into the IMO probabilistic model of random damage parameters and consequences on probabilistic models of residual ultimate strength and still water bending moments are discussed.ship respectively (Parunov et al 2016). Numerical simulations are then approximated by surrogate model enabling fast computation of damages for different collision scenarios characterized by striking ship speed, collision angle, collision location and displacement mass.…”

“…In the present study, an average sea condition along the ship route in the Adriatic is assumed for the structural reliability assessment of damaged ship. Such average sea condition is calculated for the Palagruža region, using a wave scatter diagram obtain based on calibrated satellite data and numerical wave model simulations from WorldWaves (WWA) database [26] as described by Parunov et al [27]. Wave loads in short-term sea conditions are calculated by design charts developed by Parunov and Ćorak [25], based on linear 3D panel hydrodynamic method.…”
