The aim of this study is to conduct a sociological survey to assess the state of civic identity among Kazakhstani youth within the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. It aims to explore the correlation between young citizens' ethnic backgrounds and their acceptance of citizenship. Data was collected through a questionnaire developed by researchers to examine the multifaceted dynamics involved. A total of 754 citizens between 14 and 35 took part in the survey. The findings indicate that, in the present circumstances, the sense of belonging to the state among young Kazakhstanis is primarily contextual, prevailing over other identity constructs when queried about their attitude towards citizenship. However, when measuring the level of identification—how frequently individuals perceive themselves as citizens—ethnic identity takes precedence over civic identity. The survey underscores that ethnic origin stands out as the foremost determinant of social belonging for young people in Kazakhstan in the current scenario. Moreover, this study emphasizes the significant role played by information sources in shaping civic identity. We have elucidated the intricate relationship among ethnic identity, citizenship perception, and contextual factors among Kazakhstani adolescents amidst ongoing geopolitical events using our analytical approach.

Стаття репрезентує метафоричність як характерну ознаку асоціативного осмислення американською свідомістю концепту ОПІР. Автори аналізують його за шаровою моделлю А.М. Приходька, у якій з-поміж таких сутностей, як поняття, образ та цінності, вибрано другий компонент для пілотних спроб щодо реконструкції асоціативного потенціалу концепту ОПІР в американському соціумі. Актуальність дослідження зумовлена союзними стосунками між США та Україною в стратегічній перспективі вирішення міждержавних конфліктів. Відтак релевантним є вивчення досвіду залагодження кризових ситуацій саме крізь призму американської спільноти. Студія виконана за методикою концептуальної метафори Дж. Лакоффа та М. Джонсона в поєднанні з параметрами порядку метафоризації концепту Н.В. Таценко (спаціальність, дименсіальність, дискретність, посесивність, персоніфікація, артефактність тощо). Матеріалом дослідження послугувала мініатюрна модель дискурсу – вибірка 100 контекстів із Корпусу сучасної англійської мови американського варіанта, що репрезентує об’єктивацію лексеми «resistance» як імені концепту ОПІР. Автори аналізують семантичну валентність імені ОПОРУ (його суміжні та несуміжні колокації) з параметровим виведенням метафор. Саме вони й відповідають асоціативним образам концепту ОПІР у його шаровій моделі. Ними стали метафори: ОПІР є МІСЦЕ; РІЧ; РЕСУРС; ФРАГМЕНТ; ФІЗИЧНЕ ТІЛО; ЧИННИК; МАШИНА; ІНСТРУМЕНТ; ІСТОТА; ОБ’ЄКТ СПРИЙНЯТТЯ / ВІДЧУТТЯ / АНАЛІЗУ / ШАНИ; ПРОДУКТ / СПОРУДА; ВОРОГ / ОПОНЕНТ; ЗАХИСНИК. Найвищу частотність виявили концептуальні метафори ОПІР є РЕСУРС; ФІЗИЧНЕ ТІЛО; ІСТОТА. Тобто американці образно осмислюють однойменний концепт переважно в утилітарно-прагматичному сенсі. Перспективу майбутніх досліджень вбачаємо в уточненні наявних результатів на ширших корпусних вибірках, а також у комплексній реконструкції цілісної моделі концепту ОПІР в американській свідомості. Можливе вивчення цього концепту крізь призму свідомості союзників (наприклад, Сполученого Королівства) для контрастного порівняння досвіду вирішення конфліктів між кількома державами.

War is always a time of difficult decisions. This is a test of the reality of the "will for peace", but also a verification of "preparing for war". The fire of war therefore verifies preparation and reactivity towards war. It turns out, however, that given the traditionally great importance of the decisions of the political and military establishment and their impact on the course of the defensive war and the fate of society's survival, the sequence and, above all, the continuity of signals coming from the social side are equally important. The methodological composition of this article assumes an updated reflection on the "triad of war" and its systemic relations that become visible in the face of war challenges of statehood and war challenges, security challenges of everyday social life. While it is possible to react reactively rather than preventively to the aggressor's volleys, appreciating the possibility of war allows us to strengthen many of the foundations of statehood in advance. There are also certain opportunities among the already materialized threats. Hence the title "challenges" category. The reflections and conclusions of this article, made on the basis of the assumed cognitive and utilitarian purpose, can serve as a proposal to shed new light on the functioning of the state and the development of immunity, which makes the invasion more difficult for the aggressor.
