The availability of foods is certain to exert an influence on the food selection in farmers' house holds [21], where preference is given to self-produced foods and where in the absence of purchasing facilities in the neighbourhood storability may be of importance as well as traditional ways of eating. From studies of household budgets of West German wage earners it appears that prices often play a minor role in the selection of foods [22J.…”
