UAV and SWIPT Assisted Disaster Aware Clustering and Association

Abstract: In an event of a disaster, the connectivity of on-scene available User Equipment (UE) to the first responders is important because of the unavailability of conventional networks. Therefore, in this paper, considering the deployment of both the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Mobile Command Center (MCC), we investigate end to end connectivity of UEs to the MCC in terms of the outage. Specifically, various disaster aware clustering schemes are proposed that utilize the UAV and MCC position for the association.… Show more

“…The existing UAV-enabled SWIPT literature can be broadly divided into three categories, which are cooperative SWIPT networks [217]- [229], multicasting SWIPT networks [230]- [247] and millimeter-wave (mmWave) SWIPT networks [199], [248]- [253]. Apart from these, there are a few works in the literature that facilitate disaster aware clustering and association [254], and secure information and power transmission [255].…”

“…Huang et al [ 199 ] center on power allocation and trajectory design of UAVs in a SWIPT-enabled IoT network. Hassan et al [ 200 ] explore UAV deployment and clustering of nodes in case of disaster and unavailability of conventional networks. This design could be adapted to WSNs to make them more resilient.…”

“…Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are highly demanding for various applications, such as rescue operations, surveillance, and disaster monitoring. Besides this, UAVs are also used to recover network facilities in the regions of natural disasters, such as forest fires, floods, cyclones, landslides, and manmade disasters, namely power plant explosions and terrorism, which can control emergencies when action is required [1]. In any area of interest, one or more UAVs are used for monitoring and collecting data from the ground devices equipped in that area.…”
