We studied an area with “Cerrado” associated to other vegetation types at the “Parque Estadual do Guartelá”, Tibagi, in the state of Paraná, Brazil. Herein, we have a list with all species of Melastomataceae recorded in the area with an illustrated guide including all of them. Despite the small area of this Conservation Unit, the park hosts a large number of species (36), in the following genera: Acisanthera, Chaetostoma, Lavoisiera, Leandra, Miconia, Tibouchina and Trembleya. The region where the park is located is considered the southern limit of the “Cerrado” biome, and also the limit of distribution of many Melastomataceae species. The distribution of the Melastomataceae species along the different vegetation types in the PEG seems to be a pattern for the family in general, registered also for other areas of “Cerrado” in Brazil.

ResumoApresenta-se um tratado taxonômico para a família Melastomataceae nas áreas de cangas da Serra dos Carajás. Foram registradas 42 espécies distribuídas em 18 gêneros, sendo Miconia o mais rico, com 20 espécies, seguido de Clidemia com três espécies. O gênero monotípico Brasilianthus (B. carajensis) é considerado endêmico da região de Carajás, assim como uma espécie de Pleroma. Este trabalho apresenta descrições morfológicas, chaves de identificação para gêneros e espécies, ilustrações, distribuição geográfica e comentários para as espécies tratadas. Palavras-chave: Afloramentos ferruginosos, Amazônia, Brasilianthus, endemismo. AbstractA taxonomic treatment for the Melastomataceae occurring in the cangas of Serra dos Carajás is presented. A total of 42 species in 18 genera were registered, of which Miconia is the richest with 20 species, followed by Clidemia with three species. The monotypic genus Brasilianthus (B. carajensis) is considered endemic to the region of Carajás, as well as one species of Pleroma. This work presents morphological descriptions, identification keys of genera and species, illustrations, geographic distribution and comments for the species treated.

Melastomataceae has 22 genera and 150 species in the state of Paraná. Treatments with descriptions and identification keys have already been published for 17 genera. In this work, we presented a monograph for the last five genera, with nine species: Behuria insignis, Bertolonia acuminata, B. margaritacea, B. mosenii, B. paranaensis, Cambessedesia espora, C. hilariana, Huberia semiserrata and Mouriri chamissoana. We also present an identification key for all the genera of Melastomataceae occurring in Paraná.
