Twenty Years of Research on Mixed Methods

Abstract: This research is a qualitative study based on systematic analysis of the articles on mixed methods via the bibliometric analysis using the R programming language. Thus , this study analyzed articles using mixed methods in journals in the Web of Science database. 1,623 articles, which was published in 1999 -2018 and included 'mixed methods research' in the article title, abstract or keywords, were analyzed as a whole. This analysis was the bibliometric analysis using the R programming language. At the same time… Show more

“…However, the MM has been poorly adopted and applied based on the existing evaluating standards. It could have negatively impacted the studies' perception of this method (Askun & Cizel, 2020;Bartholomew & Lockard, 2018;Fàbregues et al, 2020). It emphasizes the need for authors to abreast themselves with existing reports (Levitt et al, 2018) on the approach's best practices.…”

“…The extant works are specific in their presentation of issues within the scope of SSR's trends and challenges. Scandura and Williams' (2000) study was limited to political science disciplines.) McKie and Ryan's (2012) work was on trends and challenges in sociological research; Aro-Gordon (2015) paper was mostly a tutorial on research methodology and statistics.…”

“…The mixed method is a research method in which data is collected using quantitative and qualitative methods and mixed by integrating or establishing relationships with each other . The mixed method includes many philosophical assumptions and research processes in which data analysis applications and qualitative approaches are related (Askun & Cizel, 2020). The use of mixed method designs is widespread because different research methods are needed to investigate different aspects of reality.…”
