For responsible business, green manufacturing (GM) and its management demand an in‐depth examination of key areas which offer strategic advantage to the company while minimising environmental damage. It is significant in the context to a rapidly rising economy India, which is emerging as manufacturing hub for the globe and is also infamous for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This research offers a unique strategy to facilitate GM implementation by addressing critical success factors (CSFs), its intensity and its overall impact, through a framework in Indian context. Detailed literature review and industry experts' views are utilised to synthesise key CSFs in Indian context, followed by framework development for its application in a manufacturing company, through hybrid multicriteria decision‐making approach. This research highlights priorities and potential challenges that a manufacturing organisation will face if it wishes to implement GM. The findings strategically guide practitioners and researchers about where and what to focus and caution them before an organisation invests its resources. Research offers a powerful strategy to leverage and translate qualitative CSFs in the form of a quantitative intensity index. Authors expect that this CSFs‐based strategy will be beneficial to both researchers and professionals in strengthening the link between manufacturing and environment research domains.

The integration of green design into building construction is a necessary process in today’s world to address environmental issues and achieve sustainable development. However, when evaluating green building design schemes, various factors are intertwined with a high degree of complexity and uncertainty. To realise rational decision-making about green building design schemes, this paper first adopts the mixed techniques of triangular fuzzy numbers, quality function deployment, and Best‒Worst Method. It aims to analyse the complex factor relationship between customer needs and green building design technical features and to solve the optimal green building design index weight allocation. Next, a hybrid fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method integrating triangular fuzzy numbers, the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method, and Grey Correlation (GC) are proposed to evaluate green building design scheme performance. Finally, an example of a green design project for a hotel building is selected for application validation and analysis in comparison with the existing Complex Proportional Assessment, VlseKriterijuska Optimizacija I Komoromisno Resenje, and DEMATEL-ANP methods. These analyses demonstrate the stability and validity of the results, as well as the rationality and practicability of the proposed triangular fuzzy QFD–MCDM method. This research is a guide to the problem of evaluating green building design schemes.

Business strategy and the environment are becoming increasingly central within the global agenda. In particular, some emerging countries such as India show strong growth in the manufacturing sector while also exhibiting high emission values. This inevitably creates a paradox. Therefore, this study aims to determine the drivers for Indian manufacturing firms to pursue sustainability. The methodologies used in this work is comprised of modified total interpretive structure modeling (m‐TISM) that is based on 21 drivers to mitigate climate change and cross‐impact matrix multiplication applied to classification (MICMAC) that evaluates the dependence power and driving power of the drivers. The findings from the study reflect that there are nine levels into which the clusters are divided. “greenhouse gas performance” and “encouraging low carbon products” are influenced by all other drivers, while the driver “dynamic transitions in economic and political situation” occupies a mirror position. This last driver has the greatest impact on the achievement of the goal along with “persistent with corporate conventionalities” and “dynamic transitions in economic and political situation.” The economic dimension has a key asset in the manufacturing context, but the influence of sustainable technology on the supply side and of the responsible consumption on the demand side cannot be overlooked. Businesses that focus on short‐term maximization by not focusing on renewable and circular resources may be uncompetitive in the long‐term.
