Tuning of Catalytic Property Controlled by the Molecular Dimension of Palladium–Schiff Base Complexes Encapsulated in Zeolite Y

Abstract: Planar palladium–Schiff base complexes are synthesized, maintaining the order of their molecular dimensions as PdL1 < PdL2 < PdL3 < PdL4 < PdL5 in free state, as well as encapsulated in zeolite Y, where L1: N , N ′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine and L2, L3, L4, and L5 are derivatives of L1. All encapsulated complexes have shown better catalytic activity for the sulfoxidation of methyl phenyl sulfide in comparison to their homogeneous counter parts. These hybrid s… Show more

“…Analysis by DRS UV–vis spectroscopy gave bands at 371 nm attributed to the n → π* transition, in addition to a second transition band at 498 nm attributed to the C-T/d-d transitions typical for a metal-coordinated center on a Schiff-Base metal complex (Figure 5) [57]. Moreover, the progressive increase in absorbance was attributed to an increase in Pd-complex immobilization, thereby confirming the successful incorporation of the PdAS MCM onto the resins structure.…”

“…The Schiff's base based conductive polymer (CSP) was synthesized via aldimine condensation between p-phenylenediamine and terephthalaldehyde. 46 The palm flower carbon was prepared by using the procedure report elsewhere. 41 The palm flower collected from the local area was dried in the sunlight, pulverized into small pieces, and heated at 350 C to 400 C in a silica crucible to obtain palm carbon in the presence of nitrogen.…”

“…[25][26][27][28] In the past two decades, the thermal decomposition of FOX-7 has been extensively studied by taking advantages of the catalytic activity of single-metal oxides and composite oxides, including Fe 2 O 3 , 29 The compounds based on the Schiff bases with various structures, possess many interesting properties including catalytic, magnetic and biological properties. [33][34][35][36][37][38] Specically, they have been proved to have high catalytic activity in the hydrogenation of cyclohexene reaction, carbene reaction, and nitrogen cycle reaction. 33,39 It is noticed that nitrogen cycle reactions are involved in the thermal decomposition of FOX-7 and the combustion processes of propellants containing FOX-7.…”
