Tumour scanning with indium-111 dihaematoporphyrin ether

Abstract: Photofrin II (dihaematoporphyrin ether/ester, DHE) was labelled with indium-111 and its biodistribution in tumour bearing mice compared with that of 111In chloride. The uptake and clearance of 111In labelled DHE differed markedly from that of indium-111 chloride in that the former was not taken up by the tissues as much as the latter. Scintillation scanning with a gamma-camera showed marked uptake of both 111In agents at the site of the tumour, but a much lower tissue background (excluding the abdominal organs… Show more

The actual chemical form administered is denoted in brackets (including 111 In [22], 99m Tc [23], 18 F [24], radio Ga [25,26], radio I [27], 64 Cu [28,29], 89 Zr [30], 52 Mn [31]); (B) Representative mouse SPECT or PET images (maximum intensity projections) showing the biodistribution of ‘free’ 99m Tc, 64 Cu (reprinted with permission from Peng et al [32], Copyright 2006 SNNMI), 89 Zr (reprinted with permission from Abou et al [30], Copyright 2011 Elsevier) and 52 Mn (reprinted with permission from Graves et al [31], Copyright 2015 ACS). “…Im weiteren ist geplant, die Synthesen mit möglichst geringem Trägerzusatz durchzuführen. Andererseits ist es nach Angaben anderer Autoren sogar möglich, daß eine geringfügige und nichttoxische »Verunreinigung« durch freie Porphyrine die Me-Porphyrin-Bioverteilung nicht beeinträchtigt und sogar in gewissem Maße die Tumor/Untergrund-Verhältnisse verbessert (18).
