Tumor venéreo transmisible diseminado sobre piel, párpados y pene en un perro: Reporte de caso

Abstract: Canine venereal transmissible tumor (CTVT) is a round cell benign neoplasia that affects the external genital mucous which is transmitted during coitus with infected dogs. The normal canine behaviour such as smelling and sucking allow the tumoral cells to implant into extragenital zones with subsequent metastases formation. This report described a dog with multiple skin nodules localised in the thoracolumbar area and eyes. The nodules were ulcered and alopecic with purulent fluid around them. A granulomatous m… Show more

“…It is proposed that the atypical manifestation is associated with a poor host immune response to tumour proliferation. In addition, comorbidities such as mitral valve myxomatous degeneration and glomerulonephritis may have contributed to the spread of the disease (OJEDA et al, 2016;PINCZOWSKI et al, 2015). Additionally, immunosuppression is a fundamental factor for the occurrence of lymphatic and/or blood metastases (OJEDA et al, 2016;RAMOS et al, 2019).…”

The exclusively extragenital form of firm nodule consistency, where it is not friable or has an exophytic growth is typically described for this tumour.…”

“…The location of the tumour is related to the mode of transmission. It is almost always in the genital area, due to transmission through mating, but these lesions can be evidenced in other parts of the body such as the adjacent skin, as well as genital, oral and conjunctival mucosa, caused by transmission during social behaviours such as licking and sniffing (Ganguly et al, 2016;Ojeda et al, 2016).…”

“…This neoplasm appears as a tumoral mass at the glans bulb in males, or in the vaginal vestibule in females (Ganguly, Das & Das, 2016), and normally has a high ratio of chemotherapy response (Birhan & Chanie, 2015). The CTVT is found more frequently at the genital area, while less in the oral cavity, nasal cavity, eyes or on the skin (Ganguly, Das & Das, 2016; Ojeda et al, 2016). The CTVT occurrence is worldwide, with the highest incidence in tropical areas.…”
