Tuberculosis a globalized disease: Review

Abstract: One of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world that causes millions of deaths per year is tuberculosis (TB). In this document we present an overview of TB including pathogenesis, diagnosis and recommendations for treatment. We searched PubMed for related articles on TB in preparation for this post. We have also checked for similar reporting and clinical recommendations on the websites of international organisations such as the World Health Organization and the United States Centers for Disease Control a… Show more

“…In vitro studies showed that the development of human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 was suppressed by the allium sativum L. (ASB) compound. Both the trypan blue assay and the LDH assay were utilised to conduct the quantitative analysis of the cytotoxic effects that ASB extract had on BCa cell lines 15 . After cytotoxicity experiments, assays measuring the activities of caspase-3 and -9 were carried out in order to acquire mechanistic insight into the underlying molecular pathways.…”

“…Additionally, the benefits of Olea europaea have been linked to longer life expectancy. You have been asked to offer a summary of the current research on the therapeutic potential of Olea europaea products in the treatment of cancer [37][38][39] . This summary should include a discussion of the hypothesised compounds responsible for the plant's chemotherapeutic activities.…”

“…Clinical research show liposomal encapsulation changes drug toxicity. Liposomal drugs enhanced patient outcomes by reducing cardiotoxicity, nausea, and vomiting [65,66]. Liposomal vincristine improved its therapeutic efficacy.…”

“…A comparison was made between the antibiotic disc loaded with NE and the commercially available antibiotic disc. The inhibition zone of the NE was measured at 21.6±1.5 mm, 19 while the inhibition zone of the tetracycline that is readily accessible on the market was measured at 32.3±1.5 mm. Even though the minimum inhibitory concentration for neem extracts was 6 mg/mL, it was demonstrated that NE at a concentration of 150 μg/mL 20 was effective against the pathogenic bacterium V. vulnificus.…”
