Trust and Reputation in the Internet of Things: State-of-the-Art and Research Challenges

Abstract: This paper deals with the principal aspects emerging from the application of trust techniques to the IoT domains with respect to the particular viewpoint of an IoT environment. We consider intelligent agents technology to add social behavior to the community of the smart objects, and we analyze the fundamental role of the concepts of trust and reputation in this perspective. Also, we analyze the existing architectures for IoT and explain how to integrate IoT with fog/edge computing. Besides discussing the main… Show more

“…In the semidistributed techniques of TM, some of the IIoT sensors nodes are responsible for trust computation. This sensors nodes disseminate the information or data along with trust value in the IIoT networks 46 . The trust of the sensors are computed by the threshold value and node behavior is identified accordingly.…”

“…Trust management (TM) is important for allowing reliable data collection and transmission, to provide qualified services and enhance user privacy and information security [ 26 ]. Gambetta first defined two widely accepted definitions of trust called reliability trust and decision trust [ 26 , 27 ]. Recently, researchers had discussions about TM of IoT [ 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 , 32 ].…”

“…Additionally, in order to cope with different WSN problems, technologies of computational intelligence should be improved accordingly. To prolong the network lifetime and make WSN systems effective data collection [ 40 ], the sensor node clustering strategy and the performance of computational intelligence technologies need to be further studied.…”
